It is beautiful. I see it as a commentary on the cycle of life and death. Its aged appearance gives the feeling that Fluttershy's death was a while ago, yet her loving gaze on her creatures remains even without eyes in their sockets, blood running from the gaping void like a happy tear as she gets to continue caring for her little friends while they feast on her flesh and pluck the hairs from her mane and tail for their own uses
